Ben écoute, la patate
- This one is hard to write. She’s never like that; she’s never vulnerable and this is painful to paint her sad and broken. She and I have to go through it, though. I’ll try to repair her with my words, and Azénor will try with hers. But for now, the questions are knifes; they hit her, savaging her body. She feels it exactly as she was indeed attacked; and she presses her hands onto her belly, bending the head with a moan. She cannot even think properly, there is only the same scene repeatedly playing again and again. “I did not want, I didn’t… I didn’t want anything” anything of what happened, she means. Not only the vow, anything. But she can’t explain much more, because it’s too risky, and because the words remain in the throat. It seems like they could suffocate her, as if they weren’t made of nothing, but broken glass. It wasn’t even the first time she had to go through this – then, why do this time hurt much more?
And then, the child wakes up. As if the things could only go worse, the girl starts to cry looking at her. And this really is a nightmare Cara never even imagined. She used to be so pretty that she could not conceive such a scenario. How could people be afraid of her, who used to attract them without even doing anything? And if she lost this, what could she do with her life? Her whole existence has always been based on appearance, on superficiality. She never was more than this. And now, the tiny mirage has vanished. The emptiness was all that remained.
She suddenly cannot take it anymore. She needs to move, to shout, to lash out at the kid, to truly frighten her. Her fingers catch the wrists of the girl; “Look at me” she demands, forces her to stand up; “I scare you, don’t I?” – She screams, and her face is deformed by anger. Suddenly, she lets the kid go and, afraid not by her violence but by the sad conclusion it implies, turns to her friend; “I cannot go back to Hogwarts”.
